Changes you save in Sociavore go live on your website straight away — there is no publish step and nothing to wait for. If you edited something and your website still looks the same, or an image won't upload, work through the checks below in order.
1. Make sure the change was saved
- In the website editor, click Save at the bottom of the left panel after you make your changes. You should see the message "Your changes have been saved!". If you see an error message instead, the change was not saved — try again, and if it keeps failing, message us with the text of the error.
- If your browser asks "Leave site? Changes you made may not be saved" when you close the editor, you have unsaved changes. Click Cancel, then click Save before you leave.
- In the dashboard (menus, hours, location details and other settings), click the Save button on the form before you switch to another page.
2. Save, close and reopen the editor
Sometimes the editor preview gets out of sync with what is saved. If what you see in the editor doesn't match your website:
- Click Save in the editor.
- Close the editor.
- Reload the dashboard page in your browser.
- Open the editor again and check your change.
3. Check the page is visible
Click Website in the left menu to see your pages. A page set to Draft can't be seen by anyone, and a page set to Private isn't in your website's navigation menu (only people with the link can open it). Set the page to Public to show it to everyone. Please check Hide, Delete or Rename a Page to understand the difference between Public, Private and Draft.
4. Check you edited the right location
If you have more than one location, menus, hours and location details are saved for the location selected at the top right of the dashboard. Switch to the location you meant to change and check your edit is there.
5. A menu or menu item isn't showing
- The menu is hidden. Open Menus and make sure the menu is set to Visible. Hidden menus don't appear on your website.
- The menu isn't turned on for this location. If you share menus between locations, open the menu's schedule. Each location has its own tab — tick the checkbox next to a location to use the menu there.
- An item has no price. If an item's price adds up to $0, your website shows the item without a price. Add a price to the item or its options.
Please check Add Your Menus to understand how menus are created and shown on your website.
6. Check you're looking at the right website
If you recently connected your own domain, or you still have an old website, your domain may point to the old website. Open your Sociavore website from the dashboard and compare it with what you see at your domain. If only your domain shows the old content, the domain isn't pointing to Sociavore yet. Please check Connect Your Own Domain to understand how to point your domain to Sociavore.
7. Reload without your browser's cache
If everything above checks out, your browser may be showing a copy of the page it saved earlier. Open your website in a private (incognito) window, or reload the page while holding Shift. If the change shows there, clear your browser's cache. Please check Reset Cache on Web Browser to understand how to clear the cache in your browser.
An image won't upload
- Images can be up to 10 MB. If a file is bigger, you'll see a message that it is too large. Make it smaller (for example, export it at 2000 pixels wide or save it as JPG or WebP) and upload it again.
- Use a supported format: JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, HEIC, BMP, SVG or ICO. PDF files can't be uploaded as images.
- After the image uploads, click Save so the new image goes live.
