Connect Google Analytics 4 to your Sociavore website with your Measurement ID, check that it works, and find your visitors, orders and item sales in GA4.

Google Analytics 4 (GA4) shows you who visits your website, where they come from, which pages they view and what they order. To connect it, you only need your GA4 Measurement ID — no code. Once connected, your Sociavore website sends page views and online ordering events (add to cart, checkout, purchase and more) to your GA4 property automatically.

Step 1 - Get your GA4 Measurement ID

If you don't have a GA4 property yet, follow Google's guide to set up Google Analytics for a website and add a Web data stream with your website address. Then:

  1. Open Google Analytics and click Admin (the gear icon at the bottom left).
  2. Under Data collection and modification, click Data streams.
  3. Click your website's data stream.
  4. Copy the Measurement ID at the top right. It starts with G-, for example G-AB12CD34EF.

Step 2 - Add the Measurement ID to Sociavore

  1. In your Sociavore dashboard, go to Store → Ecommerce Settings.
  2. Click the Integrations tab.
  3. Click Add next to Google Analytics (or Edit if it is already connected).
Integrations tab: once connected, Google Analytics moves to Connected Integrations with an Edit button

In the window that opens, make sure Google Analytics 4 is selected, paste your Measurement ID into the Tracking ID field, and click Add to save.

Paste the Measurement ID and keep Google Analytics 4 selected

Add Google Analytics in one place only

Don't also paste the Google tag code into Website → Advanced → Code Injection. If GA4 is added both ways, every visit and order is counted twice. Please check How to Add Tracking Code to Your Website to understand when to use Code Injection for other tools (not for GA4).

Step 3 - Check that it works

  1. Open your website in a new browser tab and click around a few pages.
  2. In Google Analytics, go to Reports → Realtime.
  3. You should see yourself as an active user within a minute or two.

If nothing shows up, check that the Measurement ID starts with G- and has no extra spaces, and that you accepted cookies if your website shows a cookie consent banner. Standard reports can take up to 24–48 hours to fill in.

What you can see in Google Analytics

  • Visitors and traffic sources — Reports → Acquisition shows whether guests came from Google search, social media, ads or links.
  • Popular pages — Reports → Engagement → Pages and screens.
  • Devices — Reports → Tech shows mobile vs desktop visitors.
  • Online orders and item sales — Reports → Monetization → Ecommerce purchases shows revenue and how many of each menu item was bought.

Please check Google Analytics 4 Supported Events to understand which events your website sends to GA4 and what each one includes.

Still using Universal Analytics?

Google stopped collecting data in Universal Analytics (tracking IDs that start with UA-) on July 1, 2023. If your Sociavore integration still has a UA- ID, nothing is being recorded. Create a GA4 property, then edit the Google Analytics integration in Sociavore: select Google Analytics 4 and replace the old ID with your new G- Measurement ID.
